Good morning!
I just want start by saying, THANKS EVERYONE for all of the support and lovely comments everyone has extended to both Christen and I! Words can’t describe how much it means to us to have all of your support and help in making this blog come to life! Keep it coming and keep on sharing! And remember, it would really make our day to hear from you too.
What I’m about to share today is one of thooose projects….we all have them (but not everyone sees them). You know, the kind of project that you thought you would totally rock, but didn’t. Yeah, that’s this project for me. I won’t say it turned out really bad. But, I think I could have thought it through a little better.
Any-who. Here’s the story.
I was on the hunt for a welcome mat. I found this one at the Pottery Barn that I really liked and I would have totally bought (I didn’t think the price was all that bad)….but looking at those stripes off-center everyday would drive me completely batty! I looked and looked for a door mat that was similar and was coming up with nothing…..so, I decided I would custom make one for myself!
Then I got to talking with Christen, and because we like excuses to hang out and work on projects, she thought she’d make one, too.
Here’s how we did it:
First, we found a plain coir door mat. (we ordered our mats from Amazon, similar to this one)
Then…
…after the Welcome dried…I taped a border and spray painted it…
….then after the border dried…I masked the welcome and the border with tape and then made stripes like Christen did.
Once Christen’s stripes were dry, she masked her stripes and used a stencil on top of the stripes.
This is what we got. We’re pretty happy with how they turned out.
Christen’s turned out great! I really like hers.
But, like I said, this is one of those projects, for me, and if I did it again, I would so do it differently, so here’s a tip if you ever want to make one…use really big stencils. This is the part where I probably could have thought it through better, I don’t know what I was thinking…
Anyway, we are here for you…so you can learn! HA
BUT, I do really love my PINK welcome! Who wouldn’t?
Happy day!
